So, back from summer and three weeks in... does anyone else feel tired already?

First test next Friday, clubs are getting geared up again and everyone's just starting to realize it's time to start studying.

If you can't tell, I'm just rambling... someone needs to comment or something and let us know if this blog is a worthwhile exercise.

Dr. Stockham sent us an email to clarify a potential test question:

"I've created confusion about the two multiple-choice questions that have more than one correct answer. The two questions are similar to this type of question. Today is (select all appropriate or correct answers):
a. Thursday
b. Friday
c. In the month of May
d. In the month of April
e. In 2008
f. In 2009
g. Sunny
h. Cloudy
i. The next to last day of the semester.
j. The last day of the semester.

"Dr. Stockham, if you take a vet student approach to this question, it is entirely subjective.

Let’s say for instance I open this e-mail tomorrow, then A wouldn't be true because it would be outdated, but it would be true 7 days from now. As far as B, it would be true tomorrow and every seven days after that but only on multiples of 7. It could be the month of May but technically the same rules as with A could be applied, and thus D would be in the same category. Now, it is 2008, but if my approach from A, applies to C, and let’s not forget D, the year would subjective as well. It is sunny, but after the sun goes down tonight it won't be, and therefore part of today it’s sunny and part of its not. Now during the day its sunny and there are clouds, but its not technically "cloudy." Tonight, it might be cloudy but it might be too dark to tell. Now if you consider i, technically the last day of the semester was last Friday, and we are in finals week which could be considered. Now for j, today was the last final that has a major impact on grades so it could be considered the last day, and tomorrow is just a test no studying durning the day….. so I'm confused on this choice as well. I guess the answer is…it depends.......

::shrug:: Made my day, anyway. Alas, re: the water fountain note saga, apparently, not everyone was as amused as I was about the whole thing. There's an addendum now about not dumping coffee grounds, etc. into the drain (pic coming... when I have my camera - oops!!!).

It's the final push, the last leg, the wrapping-up of everything we've done for this semester (and year)... I can't think of any other cliched phrases that fit. Last week of classes, and finals start this week (yes, theoretically, they start next week, but theory and reality don't always match, as we learned this year). And won't we miss this year ever so much...?? ::wicked grin::

According to the little map thingy on the bottom of our page, people have been through - whether they just clicked the "Next Blog" button in the header or actually read anything is anybody's guess. Or maybe the tracker's wrong (why in the world would someone from the Middle East look for us specifically...??). Anyway...

So, we got permission to start a blog. Why? Well, mostly because you have at least one crazy historian who's been wanting to create an "interactive" class site since she signed up for the job, but there have been, um, restrictions on what we can do "officially" through the school's server. Therefore, we're going to host this somewhere else. Somewhere free...

So, this is going to be 'our' spot to vent and rant and rave about what frustrates, encourages or utterly kills us about vet school here at K-State (not "KSU"... some of you will get that reference...). A spot that's not "official", so we'll have less "guidelines".

NEVERTHELESS...

Please be reasonable. I've been told that, "we know how you guys talk...," but please be prudent and wise about what you write here. If you swear, please be cognizant of what you're saying, and who may be reading this. By the same token, though, say what you feel - that's the whole point of this. You can comment as long as there are posts, and it doesn't have to be about what's been posted - just write something. We won't edit your comments, but we will preview them before they post, 'cuz, quite frankly, we don't want to get reported to the Administration, either. One thing, however: SLANDER IS NOT ALLOWED!! That will lead to swift removal of this experiment.

And please keep in mind that this is still an experiment - nothing's ever perfect, and this won't be, either. I'm sure there'll be a lot of ironing-out and such. However, we were the first class to request and set up a class website, and this is the first time they're letting us do something like this. Use it well, and maybe we'll be the start of something wonderful...
